Death and Adjustment - The Hypothesis - Part - X

I have tried my best to rationalize one criteria of death for the purpose of this hypothesis and that is death is not the absolute end for us. Thus this statement is also a relative truth. This establishment more or less ensures the continuation of one persons existence after death. But another part tagged and opposite to it, that is, inactivation remains unaddressed. Plus, the sources informs us about the life after death, that is, the religions does not indicate about any target oriented active life of oneself after death. Rather it is emphasized that target oriented activities done before death will be evaluated and judged for result and consequences. So in simple words responsibility that keeps us running is not mentioned in the activity of the afterlife. So in one sense we can say that when there is a life after death, it is eventful, it is eventful but ones purposive activity is minimal.

So this concept enlightens on a sort of inactivation that is not something leading towards some state of zero that the death ends or inactivation criteria indicates. Plus when there is a reward and punishment after judgment, capability to perceive those events after judgment is supposed to be present, and religions advocate for that accordingly. In any case the more we will support the continuation of life after death, the more the frustrating and absolute inactivation will be abandoned from our thought. But as this hypothesis is about some concept and its adjustment, I will not take the responsibility to prove or disprove any matter in dispute due to its huge distance from the current trend in daily life. Rather it will be my target to address the impact on our mind and its consequence. Which is important for my hypothesis is that with the relative approval of the continuation of life after death, frustrating inactivation to zero relatively loses its support and loosening its impact on human mind sees some light of possibility. Similarly as we are considering one humans life, the same persons death, and also when continuation of life is considered it is also of that same person, it can be assumed very natural that all these are linear events.

But when the question of communication and separation comes, things become complicated. Because several kinds of endeavors are attempted to communicate with the dead that yielded no scientific conclusion and also there is not much support from the part of religion about communicating after death, it should not better be considered as an opposite pair of concepts from religion and nonreligious sources. But what is noteworthy and positive for us is that religion speaks about reunion. So separation is there for all concepts. The religious concept speaks of transient separation and non-religious ones indicate absolute separation that resembles best with end. Thus absolute separation, when compared to transient separation, can be left behind relatively on the basis of the total discussion so far. I believe that the statement I just made is within the range of rationality. But I must confess that my focus and effort for the first pair of the opposite concept does not end/ends is much stronger than the rest. In fact, the rest two comes as they are linked to the first pair, but, also, I must admit that arguing for the later pairs at large is beyond my methodologically defined limit at least at this moment.

So up to this part of hypothesis I have drawn death as something that does not absolutely abolishes us. It automatically brings the issues of continuation of life and further consequences, which is not addressed in this very limited opportunity. Thus, to be more specific and precise about this hypothesis, in this part I conclude my effort of defining death, especially those aspects of death that are directly linked to adjustment in the current civilization. In the following parts of the hypothesis I will concentrate on the issues of adjustment related to death, thus over all, related to our mental wellbeing.

What To Do When You Feel a Panic Attack Coming Part 1: the Demon Analogy

Notice: The following is presented for informational purposes only. Assessment and treatment should always be directed through one-on-one consultation with a trained professional.

This is one of my favorite questions and obviously one of the most important ones for people who are trying to gain mastery over panic.

There are basically two options for what to do when you feel a panic attack coming on. The first is to use a coping technique. The second is to do an exposure. And yes, I will explain what coping techniques and exposures are! But first, lets start off with my favorite analogy:

The Demon Analogy

Panic disorder can be thought of as a demon. There are two ways to fight this particular demon. The first way is to use your shield — Using your shield means using medications (such as Xanax), leaving the situation for a while to calm down, using relaxation techniques, and/or talking back to your anxious thoughts to quite them down. In the next part, I will describe these coping techniques in detail including their pros and cons. But apart from your shield, there is also a second way to fight this particular demon it turns out that every time you face the demon head on, he gets weaker. Each time you challenge him, he gets smaller. That is where exposures come in to play. Exposures involve turning the tables on the demon by jumping him, challenging him, and saying Bring it on. Is that all youve got?

Initially, most coping techniques alone are actually not strong enough to stop a panic attack . For example, you may try relaxation to stop a panic attack but its just not working. The demon is so large, that he just swipes your shield aside. However, usually after one to two months of starting to face the demon (i.e. doing exposures), the demon become so small that the shield techniques finally start working! And after several months of exposures, the demon typically becomes so tiny that he stops coming around at all and eventually dies.

These combined tactics of using your shield and periodically facing the demon head on will help you gain mastery over panic once and for all. If you learn these techniques (in a type of therapy known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) it is very likely that you can eventually enjoy going out with your friends, driving your car, flying overseas, and enjoying a sunny day at the beach without having to worry about panic any more.

What To Do When You Feel a Panic Attack Coming Part 3: Facing the Demon
Exposures involve voluntarily bringing on a mild to moderate level of anxiety In other words, exposures show you ways to face the demon, challenge him head on, and kill him once and for all. There are two keys to exposures:1. They have to be voluntary (which means that you cant do them all the time, because you wont always be in the mood)2. If you i...

Visualize Defeating Panic Attacks

How To Calm Stress And Anxiety Attacks By Daydreaming

When you view the world around you and then try to recall it, how do you view it? You see it in a series of pictures. Of course if you are relaxing and remembering past events its almost like entering a kind or trance because you are visualizing. Could you do this to manage stress in your life if you were suddenly feeling anxious? Do you find your mind racing at times with a series of thoughts when you are trying to get to sleep for example?

We all have favourite activities or past holiday experiences that we like to relive when looking through photographs, a flood of warmth circling around us. Or a re-union of family or friends. If you are in an agitated mood or suffering symptoms of anxiety and suddenly had a good feeling come over you, it may alleviate the stress you feel yourself. However if you can practise and even bring on feeling good for long enough, it may help you cope with the daily strain we can often feel.

I cant say that there is a good or bad way to visualize a good past memory but you need to practise it particularly if you have difficulty using your imagaination. However your surroundings or environment should be quiet where possible so it does not affect your attention.

Be aware of your breathing, placing one hand on your upper chest and one on your stomach. Take a breath and let your stomach swell forward as you breathe in and fall back gently as you breathe out. Take the same depth of breath each time and try to get a steady rhythm going. When you feel comfortable with this technique, try to slow your breathing rate down with a pause after you have breathed out and before you breathe in again. With regular practice this slower rate will soon start to feel comfortable.

Make the mental pictures in your mind as real as possible. If this is difficult you could perhaps get pictures out of magazines to focus on such as a stunning beach on a far away island and, use your senses of touch, taste, and hearing too if you can. The more realistic the imagery that you see within your mind, the more benefit you will gain. The mind is much like a muscle in that, in order to relax, it needs to regularly release what it is holding onto.

By visualizing the different situations, you are allowing your mind to relax. It is like sending a message to your brain that when you close your eyes and begin this process it is time for letting go of anything, including anxious thinking. To train for best effect and prepare your mind how to let go of the stress, it is important to practice daily. With practice, you can learn to release all stress within minutes of starting the exercise. If you practise daily the end results will be greater and it can be done any time of day or at bedtime so long as its not at a point in the day where others can distract you from concentrating.

Signs and Symptoms of Panic Attacks

A panic attack can certainly be frightening, especially considering some of the serious signs and symptoms of panic attacks. These symptoms can be so serious that in some cases the individual may feel as though they are dying, going crazy or having a heart attack. Learning to recognize these signs and symptoms is one of the first steps you can take toward overcoming panic attacks.

A panic attack is actually a symptom in and of itself of a medical disorder known as Panic Anxiety Disorder. There are numerous signs and symptoms that are commonly associated with panic attacks which may or may not necessarily indicate the presence of an attack. They could be results of another cause that is not at all related to a panic attack. For example, in some cases a medical ailment could produce results that are similar to the signs and symptoms of a panic attack. Another example would be a life threatening experience; which may or may not come before a panic attack. If these two causes are not present, the problem could well be Panic Disorder.

Typically, panic attacks only last a short time and reach their maximum intensity within a minute or so of beginning. Of course, for the person experiencing the attack, this can feel like forever. The signs and symptoms then commonly diminish over a period of about half an hour, although it could take several hours before they completely go away.

Panic attacks can occur as a single isolated incidence, although they may also occur more frequently. Some individuals suffer from them several times per month. The severity of the signs and symptoms of the panic may also vary depending on the individual.

A few of the symptoms associated with a panic attack include the following:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Feeling as though you cant get enough air
  • Racing heartbeat
  • Feeling dizzy, lightheaded
  • Experiencing a feeling of dread,
  • Nausea
  • Trembling, shaking or sweating
  • Feeling nervous
  • Feeling extremely stressed
  • Experiencing a sense of paralyzing fear
  • Hot flashes
  • Sudden chills
  • Choking sensation
  • Chest pains
  • Tingling in the fingers or toes
  • A fear that you are dying or going crazy

Of course, it must be noted that the presence of one or two of these symptoms on their own does not necessarily indicate the presence of a panic attack or Panic Disorder. There could be a perfectly logical explanation for the symptoms. The presence of several symptoms; however, could indicate there is a problem that may be associated with a panic attack.

Keep in mind that the signs and symptoms related to panic attacks can vary. During one panic attack you might experience one set of symptoms and another set during a different attack. The severity of the symptoms could differ as well as the length of time for which you feel the impact of the symptoms following an attack. It is not uncommon at all to feel tired and fatigued due to the signs and symptoms of panic attacks.

Help for Panic Attacks: Work As A Solution

I want everyone to know that I think work can be fun. I found it was a help for panic attacks.

There was a time when I would have disagreed with that.

Ever since I had a heart attack I am finding fun in so many places, even grocery shopping can be an adventure.

When you wonder if you will ever have the strength or desire to do anything again and your scared to move because another heart attack might come, that is the time you know you must find a way to keep living, not just existing.

I guess what I am trying to say is, finding the joy in things is a better way for me to keep my spirits up and fight the anxiety and stress and depression that waits around the corner, but I refuse to take that way around the block and I work at finding other paths to get me where I want to be.

Maybe you can find a different path to side step your anxiety or related issues.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to find alternative methods of dealing with anxiety, stress, fear and depression.

There are web sites to look at that give good solutions. I have tried different techniques, read books, followed programs and searched for a way to beat anxiety.

I have taken 2 or 3 really good programs and combined their ideas and added my own common sense and with that I can honestly say I feel so much more confident and hopeful that I do not need some of the medications I used to take just 4 months ago.

The mind is a powerful tool and it has so many levels of information that we rarely tap into.

Take some time, in a quiet place and think about what you can do to help yourself and not always do what everyone else says is best for you.

All I am saying is think and you will surprise yourself at how much self help you already know.

Use it and have some fun with it.

Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder

Everyone experiences mood highs and lows. It is just a normal part of life. For those suffering bipolar disorder disease these highs and lows can vary from one extreme to another. The very high and low mood swings can interrupt a normal daily life and can become very dangerous. If the person feels depressed, no work gets done. The next day they have so much energy that they go into overdrive mode. Other people see this hyper energy as being reckless or uncontrolled.

People suffering from bipolar disease can be unpredictable and confusing. This is a chronic disease. If you suffer from it, do not be embarrassed about it. The problem can be managed effectively if you learn what it is all about and how you can look at yourself.

A person suffering from bipolar disorder experiences different moods within a normal period of time. Another term is manic depression. Bipolar means two poles of emotion at extreme ends of the spectrum. Those affected will experience mood swings from very high to very low in quick succession or maybe in the span of one day depending on the severity of the affliction.

A good comparison to explain this would be the planet earth itself which has two poles - the North Pole and the South Pole. The manic phase or the extreme high would be the North Pole and the depression would be the South Pole. If either of these phases goes on for a certain amount of time, it is described as an episode. One must discuss these episodes in great depth with their healthcare provider.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, there are four types of episodes that are identified with bipolar disorder.

The first episode is Depression, where the person will feel sad for a very long time. Normal activities are difficult. Activities such as getting out of bed, eating or drinking and other normal daily activities. The second episode is Mania, where it starts with a laugh or feel good mood and the happy mood changes to irritable or angry. In this phase, it is easy to do things that are very risky. The third phase is Hypomania, which is a milder form of Mania. It begins with the person feeling fine and happy with things being done and it degenerates into depression at a very fast rate. The last episode is described as a Mixed Episode or mood.

These episodes are dangerous because the person is at risk of being suicidal. If there are more than four episodes of depression or mania within a year, then it is called rapid cycling. Symptoms for the two poles of bipolar depression differ from each other.

Under mania, the symptoms include more energy, less need for sleep, a restless mind, quick to get distracted, racing thoughts and very talkative and confident, but not much work gets done despite better concentration. Overall this is more risky than if things appear to be going badly.

When depressed, the person feels, loses interest in normal things, feels guilty about small things. They get a feeling of worthlessness and hopelessness. They feel blue and will either sleep a lot or not enough. There will be a weight change, up or down and a feeling of being tired all the time. They also have problems making decisions, concentrating on a particular job and may have excess energy or restlessness.

Certain things trigger mood swings and one must be aware of what causes them. More often than not, the triggering factors are events that have occurred in the persons life.

Today there are treatments available for bipolar disorder that make is easier to control the disease. They are available by talking with your health care provider so that you can work out a plan to stabilize your mood swings and live a normal healthy live.

Different Type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Personality Traits

There are many different types of OCD, and the symptoms can vary greatly among sufferers. Obsessive compulsive disorder literally changes your personality, as your life is so consumed by the disorder. In this article, we will discuss some of the common manifestations of OCD, and its effects on the lives of those who suffer with it on a daily basis.

Some people who have OCD have an intense fear of dirt and germs. Because of this, they are forever washing their hands, washing their clothing, cleaning their homes, etc, but they never feel as though they are completely safe. Their fear leads them to think that they will actually suffer from physical harm if they do not do these things. They kind of feel like every disease and germ is lurking on everything they come into contact with, and if they dont constantly clean and sterilize everything they touch, then they too will become infested and sick.

Another form of OCD causes sufferers to feel like they have to check and recheck everything they do. They may lock the door on the way out, and before they get to their car think they have to go back and check it again to make certain no one can get in while they are away. If using an appliance, such as the oven, or iron, they may go back several times to make sure they turned the item off and unplugged it. They live in fear that if they fail to check something and there is a problem something horrible will happen as a result, and all blame will fall on their shoulders. These people, known as checkers, often spend so much time going back over their own footsteps that they have a hard time getting anything done, even routine tasks such as cooking can prove to be difficult.

Obsessionals, as they are called, often have thoughts of harming other people, and sometimes even themselves. These thoughts seem so real to them that they live in a constant fear of themselves, and spend most of their time trying to block those thoughts and images from their minds. They may repeat things over and over like a mantra, or count obsessively, or pray to try to stave off these scary images

For some, OCD means that they have to have everything just perfect, and arranged the correct way in a specific order. Everything has a destined place, and it is always supposed to be in it. These people are often referred to as orderers. This causes major upset in their lives, as before they can complete any task, such as eating, bathing, etc., they have to spend a significant amount of time organizing things and putting them in their correct place. If someone moves anything once it has been arranged, orderers will become greatly upset, or even irate.

Hoarders, just as the name implies, is used to describe those people who suffer from OCD that are unable to throw anything away. They see value even in the smallest ting, and will collect and hold onto it, even if it is actually worthless and has no use. Their homes are often a disorganized mess, as they have so much stuff piled up in every available space.

How to Recognize a Narcissist

The narcissists appetite is similar to a leach. The narcissist will suck your blood and energy in order to satiate his own appetite. The narcissists life source(blood)is: attention, admiration, adoration, and applause. The narcissist dedicates his life in obtaining the above (blood).

The narcissist expects special treatment of some type. He does not believe he should have to wait on line or be placed on hold in an attempt to talk to the person he needs to contact. The narcissist believes he should be given special attention from his waitress regardless of how many tables she may be juggling. When he does not receive this attention he becomes filled with anger, disgust, and rage.

The narcissist loves to talk about himself and his habits. He loves to hold people hostage discussing his monotonous details about his day. He loves to brag about his daily accomplishments in detail.

The narcissist is sincerely not interested in your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The narcissist may act as if he is interested, however, his actions and behavior are 100% inconsistent with really caring in any way, shape, or form.

The narcissist does not engage in eye contact and does not like to hug and touch people.

The narcissist is offended by anyone who attempts to provide: help, love, assistance, concern, and advice. The narcissist considers this a slap in his face.

The narcissist will help others, HOWEVER, being helpful is a calculated attempt to receive: adoration, praise, affirmation, encouragement, or to meet a covert desire.

The narcissists capacity to love and return love was all but extinguished due to his critical, unpredictable, and rejecting mom.

The narcissist is disconnected to emotion and empathy. The narcissist can be thought of as a machine or a zombie.

All About Counseling

It takes courage to admit that you have a problem.

It takes courage and wisdom to realize that you might not be able to resolve this problem without professional help.

It takes strength to pick up the phone and make the call to seek help.

After making the initial contact you begin to feel slightly better knowing that you have taken the first step of the unsure journey to resolving your personal problems.

The day of your first appointment arrives and you start having doubts. “Did I make the right decision? Am I going to be able to tell my secrets to a stranger? Can I really do this?” However, you admit to yourself that if you could resolve these life difficulties on your own, without help, that you would have already done it by now. The realization that you have to keep the appointment and take a chance with seeking professional help gives you the courage to go to your appointment.

Seeing a professional therapist to help with your personal problems is a very specific process.

Upon arrival your therapist will greet you and try to make you feel comfortable. They will ask you questions to obtain basic information about your life circumstances, what your concerns are, and what initiated your decision to come for counseling. Your therapist will also try to learn as much as possible about your background and family history. They will listen and they will get to know you well.

When your therapist begins to fully understand your situation, and knows your background and family history, he or she will make every effort to go beyond what you have shared and be “additive”. They will try to help you understand more of the “cause and effect” in your relationships as well as other sources of your struggles. Consequently, you should learn more about yourself and what really causes you to hurt.

Your therapist will not only help you to understand the causes of your problems but they will assist you in learning new ways of dealing with relationships and life situations. In this sense, counseling is like a classroom learning situation. You acquire new knowledge about yourself, about relationships and about how to manage your life better.

Jealousy And Effective Solutions For It

Jealousy is a major depressing feeling. It has several definitions but regardless of disparity in its definitions, a common theme may be noted - that jealousy is a significant idea. Jealousy is often misconstrued as similar to envy but distinctions were made identifying jealousy to be a desire to keep what someone has while envy is that desire to obtain what someone does not have.

Jealousy may be constructive or destructive. Some psychologists believe that jealousy is necessary as love in a relationship. It is a natural unavoidable response which normally represents longing for things one may have lost. It can be an adapted response to the society or an intrinsic and unconscious behavior for genetic survival.

However, there is also what is known as dysfunctional jealousy which is considered the dark side of this emotion. This misplaced jealousy is what ruins good relationships. A significant percentage of murders are committed by some jealous lover. Most couples undergoing psychotherapy have jealousy problem.

One common cause of this jealous behavior is insecurity. It could arise from a feeling of uncertainty in a relationship, be it a love, working, or any other relationship. And this usually occurs when there is an existing competition in a liaison with somebody.

Oftentimes, jealousy is also caused by womens tendency to be protective of their man. Their fear of losing their man because of dissatisfaction in their current relationships also drives them to be jealous. Men, on the other hand, portray this jealous behavior if they feel intimidated by other men. This is because of their concern to protect their egos.

But jealousy could be managed so as not to destroy relationships. Most of the time, mental stress brought about by negative emotions is what causes jealousy. Pessimistic outlook in life can be a hindrance to ones happiness by causing emotional imbalance which ends up in health problems.

Since ones mental state causes this jealousy, then the best way to get rid of this jealous behavior is counseling. One only has to listen to what professionals (like psychologists) say about this feeling. Hypnotherapy could be an effective solution to this jealousy problem. Through these techniques, one is guided towards proper rerouting of love demonstration. One has to learn to let go and trust a partner to avoid that tendency to control a loved ones life. Jealousy can be controlled by discarding all negative thoughts and emotions.
