Growing from Within

Growing up in the family supermarket business and surrounded by family and friends who love to cook and bake delicious delicacies makes for a difficult decision when getting older about changing ones life. For 50 years I wallowed in all the glorious dishes that were ever made and always had a fine supply of goodies in my pantry. Likewise for years I have been trying or should I say failing to curb that appetite for goodies and later on alcohol. I never did fashion on to the attractions of drug use as to me that was a road I did not want to travel.

It does not matter what drug of choice or drugs of choice we have in our proverbial pantry as addictive personalities have one common attribute to put it nicely and that is it is hard to give that choice up on our own. Or is it? That is the question!

We have been conditioned by many variables that a twelve step program is the way to go for addiction control and although they have many benefits they have many shortcomings too. Like the minister who stands on his pulpit preaching at the top of his / her voice about God and all things religious the message given is really only as beneficial as the openness and awareness philosophically, spiritually and personally as the person preaching. Jesus walked among us in person many moons ago speaking quietly and performing miracles and giving tremendous words of wisdom that the people of the time could choose as they did how to receive it into their souls and today JESUS walks in Spirit among us quietly performing works of miracles and preaching to us and within us and still we have the ability to choose what we will do with that knowledge Jesus is endowing us with.

Twelve Step programs will work for you if you do all that you have to do within the constraints of its intention. However continually reminding each other and oneself of the disastrous life one led prior to membership in that program seems to be a contradiction of the goal of living a better wholesome life. Like all buffets, life has many to choose from and if attending any program is beneficial for one then that is magical, but do not leave it at that for life is a continuous growing process. This is where enveloping personal inspirational practices that will allow you to grow within all that the Laws of Attraction have waiting for you.

This brings me back to self awareness to combat addictions and how deep is that desire within you to live a better life. Half hearted attempts produce half hearted results. Imagine if the Transportation Authority in each State decided to commence a project and then walk away from completion because they found something better to do. Where on earth would that leave the rest of the country and what about all the chaos that would result because of an uncompleted project? That is what you are doing if you do not commit to self improvement in all aspects of your life and as many teachers are promoting this has to be done from the inside out.

There are toxins in each of our bodies that are working overtime preventing a healthy well being and taxing our immune systems to almost complete exhaustion. Therefore it is a sound decision to participate in a system of cleansing the body, revitalizing the Spirit within, and then get your exterior well being in shape. How many times have you baked a cake that looks great on the outside but when you cut it you find it is half baked? That is what you are doing to yourself when not taking into account the complete package of your entire being.
